Rig Veda I.91.1-23

Reg Weda 1.91.1

तवं सोम पर चिकितो मनीषा तवं रजिष्ठमनु नेषि पन्थाम |
तव परणीती पितरो न इन्दो देवेषु रत्नमभजन्त धीराः ||

tvaṃ soma pra cikito manīṣā tvaṃ rajiṣṭhamanu neṣi panthām
tava praṇītī pitaro na indo deveṣu ratnamabhajanta dhīrāḥ (Rig Veda I.91.1)

Thou, Soma, art preeminent for wisdom; along the straightest path thou art our leader.
Our wise forefathers by thy guidance, Indu, dealt out among the Gods their share of treasure.

Reg Weda 1.91.2

तवं सोम करतुभिः सुभूस्त्वं दक्षैः सुदक्षो विश्ववेदाः |
तवं वर्षा वर्षत्वेभिर्महित्वा दयुम्नेभिर्द्युम्न्यभवो नर्चक्षाः ||

tvaṃ soma kratubhiḥ subhūstvaṃ dakṣaiḥ sudakṣo viśvavedāḥ
tvaṃ vṛṣā vṛṣatvebhirmahitvā dyumnebhirdyumnyabhavo nṛcakṣāḥ (Rig Veda I.91.2)

Thou by thine insight art most wise, O Soma, strong by thine energies and all possessing,
Mighty art thou by all thy powers and greatness, by glories art thou glorious, guide of mortals.

Reg Weda 1.91.3

राज्ञो नु ते वरुणस्य वरतानि बर्हद गभीरं तव सोम धाम |
शुचिष टवमसि परियो न मित्रो दक्षाय्यो अर्यमेवासिसोम ||

rājño nu te varuṇasya vratāni bṛhad ghabhīraṃ tava soma dhāma
śuciṣ ṭvamasi priyo na mitro dakṣāyyo aryamevāsisoma (Rig Veda I.91.3)

Thine are King Varuṇa's eternal statutes, lofty and deep, O Soma, is thy glory.
All-pure art thou like Mitra the beloved, adorable, like Aryaman, O Soma.

Reg Weda 1.91.4

या ते धामानि दिवि या पर्थिव्यां या पर्वतेष्वोषधीष्वप्सु |
तेभिर्नो विश्वैः सुमना अहेळन राजन सोम परतिहव्या गर्भाय ||

yā te dhāmāni divi yā pṛthivyāṃ yā parvateṣvoṣadhīṣvapsu
tebhirno viśvaiḥ sumanā aheḷan rājan soma pratihavyā ghṛbhāya (Rig Veda I.91.4)

With all thy glories on the earth, in heaven, on mountains, in the plants, and in the waters,—
With all of these, well-pleased and not in anger, accept, O royal Soma, our oblations.

Reg Weda 1.91.5

तवं सोमासि सत्पतिस्त्वं राजोत वर्त्रहा |
तवं भद्रो असि करतुः ||

tvaṃ somāsi satpatistvaṃ rājota vṛtrahā
tvaṃ bhadro asi kratuḥ (Rig Veda I.91.5)

Thou, Soma, art the Lord of heroes, King, yea, Vṛtra-slayer thou:
Thou art auspicious energy.

Reg Weda 1.91.6

तवं च सोम नो वशो जीवातुं न मरामहे |
परियस्तोत्रो वनस्पतिः ||

tvaṃ ca soma no vaśo jīvātuṃ na marāmahe
priyastotro vanaspatiḥ (Rig Veda I.91.6)

And, Soma, let it be thy wish that we may live and may not die:
Praise-loving Lord of plants art thou.

Reg Weda 1.91.7

तवं सोम महे भगं तवं यून रतायते |
दक्षं दधासि जीवसे ||

tvaṃ soma mahe bhaghaṃ tvaṃ yūna ṛtāyate
dakṣaṃ dadhāsi jīvase (Rig Veda I.91.7)

To him who keeps the law, both old and young, thou givest happiness,
And energy that he may live.

Reg Weda 1.91.8

तवं नः सोम विश्वतो रक्षा राजन्नघायतः |
न रिष्येत्त्वावतः सखा ||

tvaṃ naḥ soma viśvato rakṣā rājannaghāyataḥ
na riṣyettvāvataḥ sakhā (Rig Veda I.91.8)

Guard us, King Soma, on all sides from him who threatens us: never let
The friend of one like thee be harmed.

Reg Weda 1.91.9

सोम यास्ते मयोभुव ऊतयः सन्ति दाशुषे |
ताभिर्नो.अविता भव ||

soma yāste mayobhuva ūtayaḥ santi dāśuṣe
tābhirno.avitā bhava (Rig Veda I.91.9)

With those delightful aids which thou hast, Soma, for the worshipper,—
Even with those protect thou us.

Reg Weda 1.91.10

इमं यज्ञमिदं वचो जुजुषाण उपागहि |
सोम तवं नोव्र्धे भव ||

imaṃ yajñamidaṃ vaco jujuṣāṇa upāghahi
soma tvaṃ novṛdhe bhava (Rig Veda I.91.10)

Accepting this our sacrifice and this our praise, O Soma, come,
And be thou nigh to prosper us.

Reg Weda 1.91.11

सोम गीर्भिष टवा वयं वर्धयामो वचोविदः |
सुम्र्ळीकोन आ विश ||

soma ghīrbhiṣ ṭvā vayaṃ vardhayāmo vacovidaḥ
sumṛḷīkona ā viśa (Rig Veda I.91.11)

Well-skilled in speech we magnify thee, Soma, with our sacred songs:
Come thou to us, most gracious One.

Reg Weda 1.91.12

गयस्फानो अमीवहा वसुवित पुष्टिवर्धनः |
सुमित्रः सोमनो भव ||

ghayasphāno amīvahā vasuvit puṣṭivardhanaḥ
sumitraḥ somano bhava (Rig Veda I.91.12)

Enricher, healer of disease, wealth-finder, prospering our store,
Be, Soma, a good Friend to us.

Reg Weda 1.91.13

सोम रारन्धि नो हर्दि गावो न यवसेष्वा |
मर्य इव सवोक्ये ||

soma rārandhi no hṛdi ghāvo na yavaseṣvā
marya iva svaokye (Rig Veda I.91.13)

Soma, be happy in our heart, as milch-kine in the grassy meads,
As a young man in his own house.

Reg Weda 1.91.14

यः सोम सख्ये तव रारणद देव मर्त्यः |
तं दक्षः सचते कविः ||

yaḥ soma sakhye tava rāraṇad deva martyaḥ
taṃ dakṣaḥ sacate kaviḥ (Rig Veda I.91.14)

O Soma, God, the mortal man who in thy friendship hath delight,
Him doth the mighty Sage befriend.

Reg Weda 1.91.15

उरुष्या णो अभिशस्तेः सोम नि पाह्यंहसः |
सखा सुशेव एधि नः ||

uruṣyā ṇo abhiśasteḥ soma ni pāhyaṃhasaḥ
sakhā suśeva edhi naḥ (Rig Veda I.91.15)

Save us from slanderous reproach, keep us., O Soma, from distress:
Be unto us a gracious Friend.

Reg Weda 1.91.16

आ पयायस्व समेतु ते विश्वतः सोम वर्ष्ण्यम |
भवा वाजस्य संगथे ||

ā pyāyasva sametu te viśvataḥ soma vṛṣṇyam
bhavā vājasya saṃghathe (Rig Veda I.91.16)

Soma, wax great. From every side may vigorous powers unite in thee:
Be in the gathering-place of strength.

Reg Weda 1.91.17

आ पयायस्व मदिन्तम सोम विश्वेभिरंशुभिः |
भवा नःसुश्रवस्तमः सखा वर्धे ||

ā pyāyasva madintama soma viśvebhiraṃśubhiḥ
bhavā naḥsuśravastamaḥ sakhā vṛdhe (Rig Veda I.91.17)

Wax, O most gladdening Soma, great through all thy rays of light, and be
A Friend of most illustrious fame to prosper us.

Reg Weda 1.91.18

सं ते पयांसि समु यन्तु वाजाः सं वर्ष्ण्यान्यभिमातिषाहः |
आप्यायमानो अम्र्ताय सोम दिवि शरवांस्युत्तमानि धिष्व ||

saṃ te payāṃsi samu yantu vājāḥ saṃ vṛṣṇyānyabhimātiṣāhaḥ
āpyāyamāno amṛtāya soma divi śravāṃsyuttamāni dhiṣva (Rig Veda I.91.18)

In thee be juicy nutriments united, and powers and mighty foe-subduing vigour,
Waxing to immortality, O Soma: win highest glories for thyself in heaven.

Reg Weda 1.91.19

या ते धामानि हविषा यजन्ति ता ते विश्वा परिभूरस्तुयज्ञम |
गयस्फानः परतरणः सुवीरो.अवीरहा पर चरा सोम दुर्यान ||

yā te dhāmāni haviṣā yajanti tā te viśvā paribhūrastuyajñam
ghayasphānaḥ prataraṇaḥ suvīro.avīrahā pra carā soma duryān (Rig Veda I.91.19)

Such of thy glories as with poured oblations men honour, may they all invest our worship.
Wealth-giver, furtherer with troops of heroes, sparing the brave, come, Soma, to our houses.

Reg Weda 1.91.20

सोमो धेनुं सोमो अर्वन्तमाशुं सोमो वीरं कर्मण्यं ददाति |
सादन्यं विदथ्यं सभेयं पित्र्श्रवणं यो ददाशदस्मै ||

somo dhenuṃ somo arvantamāśuṃ somo vīraṃ karmaṇyaṃ dadāti
sādanyaṃ vidathyaṃ sabheyaṃ pitṛśravaṇaṃ yo dadāśadasmai (Rig Veda I.91.20)

To him who worships Soma gives the milch-cow, a fleet steed and a man of active knowledge,
Skilled in home duties, meet for holy synod, for council meet, a glory to his father.

kepada dia yang mempersembahkan sajian, Dewa Soma yang memberikan Sapi perahan, ia memberi kuda dan ia memberi putra yang gagah berani, yang mampu bekerja, yang berguna keluarga, maupun sebagai wakil masyarakat, mampu duduk dalam badan (politik) dan kemuliaan bagi ayahnya.

sloka ini menjelaskan keinginan seorang ayah untuk mempunyai anak yang ideal. Ia adalah karmanya - yang mampu berkarya; karma sadanya - yang mampu bersadana, mengatur rumah tangga, mampu mengemban tugas-tugas rumah tangga; widathya - berguna untuk widatha bermusyawarah, pertemuan warga masyarakat yang bersifat sosial dan religius, maka ia mampu melaksanakan tugas-tugas kemasyarakatan sebagai anggota masyarakat; dan sabheyo - mampu sebagai anggota sabha (wakil rakyat) yang memberi petunjuk kepada pemimpin (raja) dalam bidang administrasi negara, kebijaksanaan perang dan sebagainya, maka dia mampu melaksanakan tugas-tugas politik bagi Negaranya. Akhirnya, ia membawa kemuliaan untuk ayahnya karena kwalitas dan keberhasilan, dan karena ia merupakan pitrsravaṇa.

oleh sebab itu, sebagai warga negara yang baik haruslah orang yang mampu berkarya, kemudian ia harus melaksanakan tugas untuk  memperluas bidang aktifitas dalam rumah tangga, masyarakat dan negara.

Reg Weda 1.91.21

अषाळ्हं युत्सु पर्तनासु पप्रिं सवर्षामप्सां वर्जनस्यगोपाम |
भरेषुजां सुक्षितिं सुश्रवसं जयन्तं तवामनु मदेम सोम ||

aṣāḷhaṃ yutsu pṛtanāsu papriṃ svarṣāmapsāṃ vṛjanasyaghopām
bhareṣujāṃ sukṣitiṃ suśravasaṃ jayantaṃ tvāmanu madema soma (Rig Veda I.91.21)

Invincible in fight, saver in battles, guard of our camp, winner of light and water,
Born amid hymns, well-housed, exceeding famous, victor, in thee will we rejoice, O Soma.

Reg Weda 1.91.22

तवमिमा ओषधीः सोम विश्वास्त्वमपो अजनयस्त्वं गाः |
तवमा ततन्थोर्वन्तरिक्षं तवं जयोतिषा वि तमो ववर्थ ||

tvamimā oṣadhīḥ soma viśvāstvamapo ajanayastvaṃ ghāḥ
tvamā tatanthorvantarikṣaṃ tvaṃ jyotiṣā vi tamo vavartha (Rig Veda I.91.22)

These herbs, these milch-kine, and these running waters, all these, O Soma, thou hast generated.
The spacious firmament hast thou expanded, and with the light thou hast dispelled the darkness.

Reg Weda 1.91.23

देवेन नो मनसा देव सोम रायो भागं सहसावन्नभि युध्य |
मा तवा तनदीशिषे वीर्यस्योभयेभ्यः पर चिकित्सा गविष्टौ ||

devena no manasā deva soma rāyo bhāghaṃ sahasāvannabhi yudhya
mā tvā tanadīśiṣe vīryasyobhayebhyaḥ pra cikitsā ghaviṣṭau (Rig Veda I.91.23)

Do thou, God Soma, with thy Godlike spirit, victorious, win for us a share of riches.
Let none prevent thee: thou art Lord of valour. Provide for both sides in the fray for booty.
